A Nod to (the) Melvins

Ozma was released in 1989 by Boner Records. It featured Buzz Osborne on guitar and vocals, Dale Crover on drums and Lori "Lorax" Black on bass. It was produced by Mark D who would later become the bassest for the Melvins. Mark and Lori (who is the daughter of Shirley Temple) were also previously in a band together called Clown Alley whose album "Circus of Chaos" was long out of print but is about to be re-released by Southern Lord. Ozma has three cover songs, Leech by Green River (a song which was actually given to Buzz by Jeff Ament)*, Candy-O by The Cars and Love Thing by Kiss but it also contains the intro to the song Living in Sin from the Gene Simmons solo album on the song Creepy Smell.

Tracks 18–33 are taken from the 1987 album "Gluey Porch Treatments" but only appear on the CD version of the album. The tracklisting that is printed on the CD lists 34 tracks, but for unknown reasons, the CD only has 33 tracks. Exact Paperbacks and Happy Grey Or Black are together on track 23 and not individual tracks as credited.

This happens to be the 30th Melvins CD added to my collection.

Also, my 2 and a half year old Siamese Fighting Fish (or Betta Splenden) is named after Buzz "King Buzzo" Osborne.

*Leech is not on the original version of Ozma but rather the CD version which contains "Gluey Porch Treatments". V.2
