Blizzard Beasts was not my first exposure to Immortal, my first was Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism. Blizzard Beasts was a different animal altogether though owning more to a death metal sound akin to Morbid Angel on some of the tracks mixed within their signature "Immortal" sound. This was also the last album with Demonaz on guitar and was a good middle ground between the previous album Battles in the North and the follow up to Blizzard Beasts, At the Heart of Winter. Highlights include "Mountains of Might", "Nebular Ravens Winter" and "Frostdemonstorm". The End records have just re-issued Immortal's back catalog which has made them all the more easy to obtain but if you are a true collector, jump on Ebay and find the Osmose versions.
