My friends Jeff and Lyle from Ghoultown and my buddy JT from Smile for Society are playing a show this Saturday at the Darkside Lounge. If you can make it, I highly recommend both bands. Thanks to Jeff (Middlefinger) for still staying in touch year after year.

JSTN
Check out the art, graphic design and web design of Justin Bartlett. Justin's style is very much his own and harkens as much to the old school as to the new. He has worked with numerous bands and done some killer fucking work. Click and check him out, give him feedback, put him to work. Thank you to Justin for giving the OK to publish a pic.

Arik was very kind to grant me permission to publish a pic of his...I love his work...like a cross between Bodé and Frazetta with a splash of Bakshi. Just click on the pic. Thanks Arik!

From Genesis (to A Little Disappointed)
Don't get me wrong gents...I am super glad to see Mike, Tony and Phil back together...but if all it gets us is another "I Can't Dance" then what the fuck is the point really? C'mon boys...let's have some substance...let's expose the world to a time when you guys put out perfection.
For examples of this perfection, check out everything from 1969 to 1983. Highlights include: Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Genesis Live, Selling England by the Pound, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, A Trick of the Tail, & Seconds Out.

A Nod to (Essential) Queens of the Stone Age
Back a million years ago (ha..! get it, stone age...nm) Josh and Nick got along...songs were gritty...drugs flowed...and I was a big fan of Queens of the Stone Age. You have got to hear the first, self-titled album and the QOTSA/Beaver Split(both long out of print, and I have them both!). Not that the band is bad now...they just aren't...you know...what they were. Rated R had some amazingly bad ass moments. In fact...get that too...it wasn't until Songs for the Deaf (which was pretty damn good as well) that I started to lose interest...even though it was a strong album...and then Nick was gone...it's just too much of a fucking mess to try to keep up with anymore...(just look at the Wiki page on QOTSA). So if you can...get a hold of the first two...get a hold of the Beaver Split (ha! another joke...) and feel the vibe that used to be. This band used to smoke fucking everything...literally and figuratively!!!

Dandelion Winos
From my buddy Matt Vaughn 02.06.07:
Hello Friends,
This Friday the Dandelion Winos www.myspace.com/dandelionwinos are playing either Liquid Lounge or Curtain Club. This will most likely be the last time I drum for these guys - definitely the last time in Dallas. I'm quitting the band because I'm job hunting for something in Houston. It would be great to have some support this Friday. We're selling tickets, so let me know if you're interested.
Later,
Matt
